CFD for HVLS Fan to study De-Stratification

CFD studies are brought to use for understanding the de-stratification phenomenon and flow profile because of employing HVLS Fans. This case study specifically focusses on the MRF capability in Ansys fluent to simulate such large geometries in rotation.

High Volume Low Speed (HVLS) Fans is a type of mechanical fan greater than 7 feet (2.1m) in diameter. HVLS Fans move slowly and distribute large amount of air at low rotational speed. Conventional ceiling fans runs on totally opposite principle of Low Volume High Speed.

CFD studies are brought to use for understanding the de-stratification phenomenon and flow profile because of employing such fans. This case study specifically focusses on the MRF capability in Ansys fluent to simulate such large geometries in rotation. Multiple Fan arrangements in the typical practical applications of such fans like in a warehouse can be modelled and flow parameters with temperature can be studied in detail for better designs .
